This is just a reminder to all parents that we will be having an Open House at the school this coming Saturday (Nov. 20). It runs from 12pm-4:30pm, and will be held in the cafeteria. You will have a chance to speak to any or all of your child's teachers during this time and raise any questions or comments you might have. I would love to see you all there, and if your child wants to come along, they are more than welcome!
Looking forward to seeing you there,

Class Calendar
Some of you may have noticed the class calendar posted on the website. It gives your student an idea of what the homework for the week will be, as well as what we will be going over in class. Parents should feel free to peruse this throughout the month or week to see what is going on in class. As you look through, do you recall any books you read through high school that you still feel strongly about one way or another? Or perhaps, all high school reading has been erased from your memory. Is there anything you notice is not included in the curriculum that you remember from your school years, or books you see us reading that you wish had been included?

Talking with Kids
As a teacher, I often wonder what students say about my class when they are home. Some students probably never mention it. Others might have very positive things to say; others, very negative things. Each student comes away with their own view of a class, as well as their own take on what the teacher should have done differently. But as humans, we often feel people talk about us far more than they actually do.
So what is your take on the matter as parents? Are your children generally happy with how school is going? Do they wish things were done differently? Do they mention school at all?
And how do you get your child to start a dialect about the classroom?
I would love to hear your opinions on all this!
